About this opportunity
The Carol Bond Fund is a memorial scholarship created by NC One Water in cooperation with employees of the City of Raleigh, North Carolina, commemorating Carol Bond and her lifelong devotion to environmental education. Carol was one of the first certified Environmental Educators in the state of North Carolina and served on many NC One Water committees. The fund supports scholarships and grants that encourage interest in environmental education.
This scholarship provides $1,000 plus free attendance to the 2023 NC One Water Annual Conference to students pursuing a degree at a community college in North Carolina. The scholarship is designed for students studying environmental science or environmental education with a cumulative GPA greater than 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients must be U.S. citizens, and preference is given to members of an NC One Water/NC AWWA-WEA student chapter.
All scholarships are made possible by the NC Safewater Endowment Fund. The award is paid directly to the financial office of the recipient's educational institution. While the scholarship cannot be renewed, recipients are welcome to reapply annually. Applications must be submitted online along with two letters of recommendation from college instructors, an essay (maximum 800 words), and an official transcript.
