About this opportunity
The College of Business and Law Scholarship for Masters by Research in Business supports postgraduate research students at University College Cork. Research can be undertaken in any of the main disciplines of the Commerce Faculty and involves writing a thesis of approximately 40,000 words under academic supervision in the relevant discipline. The scholarship covers student fees for the Masters by Research program and is tenable for one year.
Students receive comprehensive academic support, including at least one member of the academic staff acting as academic supervisor for regular consultation meetings and feedback on draft work, plus a second member providing general advisory support. Students have access to postgraduate research facilities in the relevant Department. Progress is monitored by the Commerce Faculty in conjunction with supervisors, with a formal oral presentation required after 6 months and thesis submission expected after 12 months.
In cases where projects demonstrate potential to progress to PhD standard, students may apply to transition to a PhD program with departmental and supervisor support, though funding for additional years would require separate applications to competitive scholarship schemes available at that time.
