About this opportunity
The David and Nhilla Dumbrell Scholarship was established in 1986 from the estate of Nhilla Victoria Margaret Dumbrell to assist outstanding students to undertake studies in piano at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. This scholarship supports financially disadvantaged students enrolled in full-time coursework or research degrees at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney.
The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and stipulated in the scholarship offer letter to successful recipients. For coursework students, payments are made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. For postgraduate research students, the scholarship is paid as a stipend on a fortnightly basis.
Applicants are selected based on their personal statement and demonstrated evidence of disadvantage. Postgraduate research applicants may also be evaluated on their research achievements and potential. Applicants may be required to attend an interview. The scholarship is available to students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds who are studying piano.
