About this opportunity

The David Eade Postgraduate Piano Scholarship was established in 2023 through a bequest from David Philps Eade to assist in the education and training of postgraduate classical pianists studying at Te Kōkī the New Zealand School of Music, Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington. This scholarship is open to classical piano students who are graduates of Te Kōkī the New Zealand School of Music entering postgraduate studies. Recipients must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents. The scholarship covers stipend and other activities related to piano studies at the New Zealand School of Music. The tenure is one year with the right to reapply for subsequent years. Recipients are expected to perform in a concert honouring the memory of David P Eade and demonstrate engagement and contribute to the community and environment of the New Zealand School of Music through participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or University events.

Review process

The successful recipient will be selected by the Director of the New Zealand School of Music, the Head of Piano Studies and Diedre Irons (as delegated by the donor). Applicants will be assessed on their performance submitted as part of the application.
