About This Opportunity

The David Eade Undergraduate Piano Scholarship assists in the education and training of undergraduate classical piano students at the New Zealand School of Music at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington. This scholarship was established in 2023 through a bequest from David Philps Eade to assist classical pianists studying at the New Zealand School of Music. The scholarship is valued at $10,000 for one year, with the right to reapply for subsequent years. Recipients must demonstrate engagement and contribute to the community and environment of the New Zealand School of Music, including participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or University events. Recipients are also expected to perform in a concert honoring the memory of David P Eade and write a letter of thanks to the family of the donor.

Review process

The successful recipient will be selected by the Director of the New Zealand School of Music, the Head of Piano Studies and Diedre Irons (as delegated by the donor). Selection is based on current NCEA progress and performance assessment submitted as part of the application.
