About This Opportunity

The Deas Thomson Geology Scholarship in Postgraduate Research provides financial assistance to Masters by Research or PhD students who are undertaking research in geology at the University of Sydney's School of Geosciences. This scholarship has been established through a gift donated by Edward Deas Thomson to support students conducting research into geology. The scholarship provides an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) rate, indexed annually, for up to three years with the possibility of a six-month extension subject to satisfactory academic performance. Recipients must hold an honours degree (first class) or a master's degree with a substantial research component in a related field. The scholarship follows the Research Training Program (RTP) application process and is awarded based on academic merit and previous research experience, including relevant professional experience, scholarly publications, and other research output. Recipients also receive student services and amenities fee coverage for up to twelve research periods, with potential extension for up to two additional periods.
