About This Opportunity

The Denis O'Sullivan Clinical Research Fellowship is endowed by the medical graduates of UCC to honor Professor Denis O'Sullivan, Professor of Medicine from 1961-1990. Up to two fellowships are awarded annually to facilitate full-time clinical research by NCHD-grade doctors working in teaching hospitals and general practices associated with University College Cork. The fellowships are awarded through open competition by an Assessment Committee appointed by the President of the College, which includes the Head of the School of Medicine, representatives from Cork University Hospital and Cork Voluntary Hospitals, a representative of UCC Medical Graduates, and an external assessor. Each applicant must present a specific research proposal prepared in collaboration with their nominated Department. Collaboration with Basic Science and other Departments within the University is strongly encouraged. This fellowship provides an opportunity for clinical researchers to dedicate themselves full-time to research activities that advance medical knowledge and practice.
