The Dr Anthony J Palmer Scholarship for a Masters by Research in Chemistry

Durham University Original Source

About This Opportunity

The Dr Anthony J Palmer Scholarship for a Masters by Research in Chemistry is an annual award established through a generous gift from Dr Anthony J Palmer, an alumnus of Durham University who studied Chemistry from 1961 to 1967. Tony wished to help others undertake postgraduate research in Chemistry, so he left a gift in his will to set up this award. The funding covers tuition fees and some research expenses to support the project. This funded Masters by Research (MRes) may be in any area of Chemistry. While not a requirement, additional weighting is given to applicants who can show a connection to the local Durham area, due to Tony's longstanding connection with Durham. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be a member of St Cuthbert's College, which may be able to provide additional financial support. Applicants are required to approach a potential supervisor from the department, define a project title with their supervisor, and produce a research proposal. A personal statement and an Equality Diversity and Inclusion statement are also required as part of the application process.
