About This Opportunity

The Dr Lena Cansdale Scholarship is an undergraduate and/or honours scholarship established to support students either taking a Major or Minor and/or Honours in Jewish Civilisation, Thought and Culture or Hebrew language studies at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is funded from the Estate of the Late Dr Lena Cansdale and is valued at up to $3000. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate and/or honours degree in the discipline of Hebrew, Biblical and Jewish Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Students must have completed either two units of study in one semester or four units of study within one year in JCTC or HBRW courses, with a distinction average. The scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit and a personal statement, with preference given to applicants with special interests or career aspirations related to their path of study, such as teaching, and those who have not received other funding support. The scholarship provides a one-off payment of $3000 for full-time students or 50% of this value for part-time students. The scholarship is not deferrable, suspendable (except for honours students with approval), or transferable to another school, faculty, or university. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance and continue enrollment in their eligible course.
