About this opportunity
The Edward and Matilda Ryan Scholarship was established through a bequest from the late Miss Mary Ryan, who served as Professor of Romance Languages at University College Cork from 1909 to 1938. She donated €1,778 to the University to endow a summer holiday scholarship for the study of French in France. This scholarship supports undergraduate students who are pursuing French to honours degree level and who are not native French speakers. The award is specifically designed to provide students with the opportunity to study French in France during summer holidays or for a short period. Two scholarships may be awarded each year, with each currently valued at approximately €2,500. Candidates must demonstrate strong academic performance in French, having achieved specific mark thresholds in their First University Examination in Arts or in related business or law programs that include French studies.
