About this opportunity
The First 500 Scholarship was established by the undergraduates who helped found the University of Kent in 1965 to assist those whose full potential has yet to develop or whose talents are not recognised by current assessment methods. The scholarship is worth £2,000 per annum (or pro-rata for part-time students) for the duration of the recipient's undergraduate degree programme. Named in honor of the first 500 students who arrived at the University in 1965 and who had the opportunity and responsibility to establish the foundations of student life, this scholarship recognizes that even those who become great in their field did not always have a smooth path to success. One scholarship is available each year to students entering Stage 1 of their undergraduate degree who have attained A*AA from three A Levels or specified equivalent qualifications. The scholarship reflects the university's founding spirit of identifying capability to develop rather than solely focusing on high assessment results.
