About This Opportunity

The Frances Merenda Travelling Scholarship supports students enrolled in Italian Studies at the University of Sydney to travel to Italy as part of their degree. This scholarship is funded by a donation by the late Ms Frances Merenda, MBE. The scholarship is available to second or third year undergraduate students currently enrolled in an Italian Studies major who are undertaking an approved exchange place at an Italian university that will be credited towards their degree. It is also available to Masters or PhD students enrolled in Italian Studies who are planning to travel to Italy to pursue further language and cultural studies or to conduct research in a relevant area as part of their degree. Applicants must be intending to commence the approved exchange or program of study to Italy within the calendar year of the scholarship application closing date. Selection is based on academic merit, marks in Italian language and cultural units, personal statements, and detailed budget information. Preference may be given to applicants who can demonstrate financial hardship or their intention to continue with Italian Honours.
