About this opportunity
The Gabrielle Gouch Scholarship provides financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander undergraduate students in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. Established in 2023 through a generous donation by Gabrielle Gouch, this scholarship specifically supports students majoring in mathematics, physics, chemistry, medical science, climate science, or biochemistry/genetic engineering.
The scholarship is valued at approximately $1,200 per annum and is awarded for one year. It is available to students commencing their second year of full-time undergraduate coursework studies (having completed a minimum of 48 credit points). The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, with preference given to students who have demonstrated financial hardship, entered via the Gadigal Program, or received an Indigenous and/or equity scholarship in their first year.
The scholarship payment is distributed as a one-off payment after the census date, with interest paid in semester two. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment to retain the scholarship. This opportunity provides crucial financial support to Indigenous students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
