About this opportunity
The Garden Club of America Summer Scholarship in Field Botany provides financial support to undergraduate and master's degree students conducting field studies in botany during the summer. The scholarship was established in 2000, generously funded by Mrs. Henry Streeter, an ardent horticulturist and member of the North Shore Garden Club of Massachusetts, to help offset the trend of declining or consolidated botany programs at colleges and universities. The program offers students an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in field botany beyond their regular course of study through outdoor summer field research conducted in the Western Hemisphere. Selection of awardees is made by members of the GCA Scholarship Committee and professionals knowledgeable in field botany. The scholarship provides $3,500 annually to support students' outdoor summer field studies, helping to advance botanical education and research in the United States.
