The Geology Award

The Geology Award is a scholarship funded by Metal Focus Ltd for applicants with Black African or Caribbean heritage from socio-economically challenged backgrounds who will be commencing study of a Geology undergraduate degree programme at the University of Leicester from September 2025. The successful applicant will receive an award of £4,000 during their first year of study, paid in two equal instalments in February 2025 and July 2026. This award is intended to support students from underrepresented backgrounds who have been permanently resident in the UK for the past three years in areas of low participation in higher education or socio-economic deprivation, and whose household income is £30,000 or below. The scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers and support diversity in geology education.
