About this opportunity
The Inlaks-Asia Art Archive Art Grant encourages artists to propose methods of art-making that incorporate research, collaboration, workshops, and formal experiments to explore the imaginations, architectures, sensoria, and interfaces of the archive. This open call seeks proposals that demonstrate a critical and imaginative approach toward the archive as concept, system, and medium, asking artists to consider: What shall we do with the archive?
Applicants are invited to propose projects that engage with archives pertaining to any field such as art, music, cinema, theatre, law, science, medicine; artists' personal archives including scrapbooks, letters, diaries, photo albums; public libraries, databases and inventories; or anthologies, timelines, maps, and bibliographies. Applications are assessed based on clarity and rigour, and proposals that extend ongoing projects are eligible.
The grant is awarded for a period of one year (1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026) and offers support up to INR 2,00,000. Grantees are not expected to submit completed work at the end of the programme, allowing for experimental and research-based approaches to archive engagement.
