About This Opportunity

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA's missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology. This specific fellowship focuses on understanding galaxy formation through gravitational lensing. The project will work with existing observations from Hubble and Keck Observatories, and plan for Webb and Roman Observatories. The research addresses the transformation from blue star-forming galaxies to red quiescent galaxies, examining chemical signatures and stellar composition maps. Strong gravitational lens systems will be used to provide high-resolution views of distant galaxies, allowing researchers to map chemical and stellar properties in detail and test models of star formation and assembly scenarios.
