The Isaacs Family Scholarship in Science

The Isaacs Family Scholarship in Science is a postgraduate scholarship that provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who are commencing or currently enrolled in a Honours or Masters Degree within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. Established in 2021 through a generous donation by the Isaacs Family, this scholarship aims to support Indigenous students undertaking advanced studies in science. The scholarship provides financial assistance valued between approximately $55,000 to $105,000 to support tuition fees and/or living expenses. The exact amount and duration are determined by the Selection Committee and stipulated in the offer letter. Recipients can be enrolled full-time or part-time in either a Masters by Coursework or Masters by Research program. Awards are made based on academic merit, a personal statement demonstrating interest in postgraduate studies in Science, and a successful interview. The scholarship is administered by the Dean of the Faculty of Science upon recommendation from a Selection Committee convened by the Associate Dean, Indigenous Strategy and Services, which includes a representative from the Gadigal Centre. Recipients are required to provide annual reports detailing the impact of the scholarship and their future aspirations.
