About This Opportunity

The James M. O'Donovan Medical Prize was established by friends, past students and admirers of Professor James M. O'Donovan, MSc, MD, FRCPI, who served as Professor of Medicine at University College Cork from 1932 to 1957. The prize is awarded annually to the medical student who achieves the highest marks in Medicine (module CP5200) at the Final Medical Examination. The award recognizes excellence in medical studies and honors the legacy of Professor O'Donovan's distinguished career in medical education. The prize value is approximately €1,750 but may vary based on the income from the endowed fund. To be eligible, candidates must have been students at UCC for the three years immediately preceding the examination, must take all subjects of the Final Medical Examination for the first time, and must meet specific timing requirements related to their Third University Examination in Medicine.
