About this opportunity

The James M. O'Donovan Medical Prize is an annual award established by friends, past students, and admirers of James M. O'Donovan, who served as Professor of Medicine at University College Cork from 1932-1957. The prize is awarded to the successful candidate at the Final Medical Examination who has obtained the highest marks in Medicine (module CP5200). To be eligible, candidates must have been students at University College Cork for the three years immediately preceding the examination, must not have passed the Third University Examination in Medicine more than three years before the Final Medical Examination (with allowances for approved non-medical studies), and must have taken the whole Final Medical Examination with each subject for the first time. The Academic Council must also consider that a sufficiently high standard has been attained. The prize is funded from an endowment of €761.84, with the annual income determining the award value. Due to fluctuations in investment markets, the actual amount may vary from the indicative value of approximately €1,750.
