About this opportunity
Established in 1971, The Joan and James Armstrong Award is awarded to students to assist them in advancing their studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. This scholarship was established from the Estate of James McIlrath Armstrong and supports both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those pursuing coursework or research degrees. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, personal statement, demonstrated evidence of disadvantage, and/or portfolio and performance. For postgraduate research applicants, the scholarship may also be awarded on the basis of research achievements and potential. The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and stipulated in the scholarship offer letter to successful recipients. It is offered as either a merit-based scholarship (with automatic consideration through admission applications) or as an equity scholarship (requiring a separate application).
