About this opportunity
The John Joseph McCarthy Prize in Civil and Environmental Engineering is an annual prize offered in memory of Mr John Joseph McCarthy (BE' 47) to final year students of Civil and Environmental Engineering who have contributed significantly to sport at UCC. The prize was established by Mr John McCarthy (BE' 79), Managing Director of John McCarthy BE and Partners, to honor his father. The prize recognizes academic excellence combined with athletic contribution to university life. To be eligible, students must have achieved a degree in Civil Engineering on first sitting of examinations and be able to demonstrate their contribution to sport at the university. Applications are assessed by Mr John McCarthy or his nominee in conjunction with the Director of Physical Education and Sport. The prize is eligible for inclusion on the winner's final year transcript and must be applied for within one month of obtaining degree results.
