The John Monash Scholarship

The John Monash Scholarship is a prestigious Australian postgraduate award that allows recipients to study in any field, at any international university, anywhere in the world. Inspired by General Sir John Monash, the scholarship is valued at $100,000 AUD per year for up to three years of full-time postgraduate study at any world-class university outside of Australia. Each year the Foundation awards between 14-20 scholarships, empowering scholars to gain world-class expertise from their chosen institutions to deliver positive impact for Australia. No matter the passion – science, technology, the arts or social impact – this scholarship is open to Australians of all ages and study areas and is designed for those who demonstrate excellence in their field, leadership aptitude and are motivated to contribute to a better future for Australia. The scholarship provides flexible funding to cover tuition, accommodation, living expenses and related costs, plus additional travel support for flight costs to and from the study destination. As a John Monash Scholar, recipients join an active, lifelong network of 280+ world-class leaders driven by innovation. Through the Leadership Academy, scholars have access to ongoing, personalised mentoring, exclusive events, professional development programs and collaborative grant opportunities. The Foundation also provides wellbeing support through the Foundation team and international Scholar network. Additional fee waivers or bursaries are available through partner universities including Kings College London, Cranfield University, IE University Madrid, and University of Groningen. Past scholars have pursued postgraduate degrees at prestigious institutions including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Imperial College London, and many others.
