The Jonathan and Barbara Silver Foundation Grants for Sculpture and Writing on Sculpture

The Jonathan and Barbara Silver Foundation offers grants to encourage and support both sculptors and writers on sculpture, whether emerging or established. The foundation operates on a 2-year cycle with alternating grants: the Writing Grant (awarded in even years) supports writers who generate fresh writing and thinking on the history, aesthetics, purposes, imagination, or situation of sculpture; the Sculpture Grant (awarded in odd years) supports artists who demonstrate exceptional commitment to sculpture informed by imaginative engagement with its materials, histories, and situation. The foundation regards writing on sculpture, like sculpture itself, as a field with unlimited potential, creating a space where making and finding language for sculpture are equally valued. Grant recipients are expected to complete their proposed project within one year of receiving the award.
