About this opportunity
The Lawrence Dana Pinkham Study Abroad Scholarship honors Lawrence 'Larry' Pinkham, who served as chair of the Journalism Department from 1976 to 1981 and taught at the University of Massachusetts Amherst until his retirement in 1991. Pinkham also taught in China and India where he helped establish English-language journalism programs at major academic institutions.
This scholarship recognizes Pinkham's international work by supporting a Journalism major who is studying abroad. The award provides $1,000 to help offset costs associated with international study experiences that align with the student's academic and career goals in journalism.
Eligible students must be Journalism majors at UMass Amherst who plan to study abroad in the next academic year. Applicants must demonstrate how their study abroad plans relate to their field of interest and explain how the international experience will contribute to their academic and professional development in journalism.
