About this opportunity
The Louise Clancy Memorial Prize is awarded to the best dissertation written in the final year of UCC's BA in English. Named after a former UCC School of English student who died tragically in a road traffic accident in December 2015, this prize honors Louise Clancy's legacy as an engaged and talented student who demonstrated exceptional integrity and motivation in her studies. Louise was known for her interest in literature, her work as a student journalist and blogger, and her zest for university life.
The prize recognizes excellence in dissertation writing among final-year English students. All students enrolled in the dissertation module EN3110 are automatically considered for this award. No formal application process is required, as all dissertations submitted for the final year BA in English program are reviewed for consideration.
This memorial prize celebrates not only Louise's academic achievements but also what she gave back to her teachers, fellow students, and friends during her time at UCC. The award serves as a reminder of her enthusiasm for learning and her commitment to engaging with important topics in literature and society.
