About this opportunity
The Lyn Mallesch Scholarship is an undergraduate and postgraduate coursework scholarship established to provide financial support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at the University of Sydney who are experiencing financial hardship. The scholarship was established in 2025 and is funded by a donation from Peter H J Mallesch.
This scholarship is valued at $8,500 per annum and is tenable for the published full-time duration of the recipient's undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree (single or combined) up to a maximum total duration of 5 years full-time study or part-time equivalent. The scholarship annual value is paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.
Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree or postgraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney and identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as defined in the University's official policy. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of a personal statement that details how the scholarship will support the applicant to undertake their degree and includes details of financial hardship. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship.
