About This Opportunity

The Maria Teresa Savio Hooke OAM MySydney Scholarship is designed to address educational disadvantage experienced by people living in areas affected by socio-economic disadvantage, by facilitating and supporting their participation in University of Sydney courses. The scholarship supports domestic students commencing an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney who reside in areas listed in the bottom 25 percent of the Australian Bureau of Statistics Socio-Economic Index for Areas (SEIFA) Index of Education and Occupation (IEO). The scholarship provides significant financial support including both a cash component and accommodation assistance. Recipients receive $8,500 per year as a cash payment and $24,000 per year towards the costs of accommodation at a University of Sydney owned residence. This comprehensive support is available for the full-time duration of the recipient's undergraduate degree, up to a maximum of 4 years. In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients gain access to valuable programs and benefits including transition support through the Preparation for Sydney Uni program, annual USU Rewards Membership, eligibility for the Vice Chancellor's Global Mobility Award (up to $5,000 for exchange programs), access to additional accommodation scholarships, and an alumni and industry mentoring program in their final year of study. The scholarship is transferable to other undergraduate degrees at the University of Sydney with approval.
