About this opportunity
Provided in honor of Mary and Bob Sierra, this scholarship is awarded each year to six Hernando County high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence and plan to attend a state or community college upon graduation. Applicants should also demonstrate a commitment to community service and participation in community activities. This scholarship is available for a two-year period, providing up to $3,500 total scholarship amount awarded at up to $1,750 per year or $875 per semester. Recipients must be United States citizens or lawful permanent residents, graduating seniors from a public Hernando County School enrolling at an accredited state or community college in Florida as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours. Applicants must demonstrate financial need with a FAFSA Student Aid Index of 1500 or below, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, have minimum test scores of 1000 SAT or 19 ACT, complete at least 15 credit hours of college dual enrollment while in high school, rank in the top 50% of their class, and have either 50+ hours of community service while in high school or worked 10+ hours per week during junior and/or senior years.
