About this opportunity
The Mary J. Mullarkey Scholarship supports students graduating with an undergraduate degree from an accredited Colorado college/university or from St. Norbert College and who are entering law school for the upcoming fall semester. Scholarships shall be awarded to one or more students who, through their work experience, volunteer experience, and/or coursework, have demonstrated a commitment to sex equality in the law, including, without limitation, in the area(s) of sex discrimination, equal pay, reproductive rights, and/or gender violence.
Applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic excellence, and have provided significant community contributions. Selection criteria include commitment to the field and passion for the work, vision for the future, and community engagement. Preference will be given to students who participate in activities related to their graduate studies.
This is a one-time scholarship award with amounts ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Typically, one award is granted per year. Award amounts may be used toward the recipient's tuition, fees, books, and supplies. All scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient's post-secondary institution, and the award must be used for the upcoming academic year.
Applicants must submit a list of all community volunteering opportunities and paid/unpaid work experiences, a transcript, and a written response reflecting on how their socioeconomic background has influenced their path toward pursuing a legal education and how these experiences have shaped their perspective on justice, equity, and advocacy.
