The Millen Graduate Award

The Millen Graduate Award is an annual award available to students enrolling in an MFA or MA program in writing at the University of Victoria. The award recognizes excellence in creative writing, specifically in poetry or prose. Selection is based on academic standing acceptable to the graduate faculty and an assessment by the Department of Writing. Candidates must submit either an original lyric poem that is beautiful in form and content, or a prose original (fact or fiction) of not more than thirty-five hundred words that is beautiful in form and content. The award provides $3,000 to support graduate students pursuing excellence in creative writing. Submissions must be made according to the format and entry dates prescribed by the Department of Writing, with a deadline of June 15.
