About this opportunity
The Máire Mulcahy Prize is an annual award established in honour of the retirement of Professor Máire F Mulcahy, who served as Head of Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology at University College Cork. The prize recognizes academic excellence in the field of Zoology and is awarded to the best overall final year Zoology student within UCC at the Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony. The prize takes the form of a gold medal, twelve of which were struck from a collection taken up in the department at the time of Professor Mulcahy's retirement, with the first medal awarded to Professor Mulcahy herself to mark the occasion. The judges are the academic staff of Zoology and Ecology disciplines in the School of BEES (Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences) at UCC.
