About this opportunity
A fund was raised by the family, colleagues and friends of the late Niall J. Ware who was Professor of Spanish from 1964 to 1978 and handed over to the Governing Body for the provision of an annual prize. The prize is awarded to the student who obtains first place in Spanish at the BA (Honours) Degree Examination. The award recognizes exceptional academic achievement in Spanish language studies at the undergraduate level. The prize consists of a parchment and a sum of money, currently valued at approximately €200. This memorial prize honors the legacy of Professor Ware and encourages excellence in Spanish language education at University College Cork.

Review process
Automatic award to student who obtains first place in Spanish at BA Honours Degree Examination, subject to Academic Council approval of standard.
Restrictions
- Must have obtained First Class Honours in Spanish at BA Honours Degree Examination
- Must have passed examination as a whole at first attempt
- Must have been a student at UCC for two years immediately preceding BA Honours Degree Examination
- Must have passed all university examinations in minimum time and at first attempt
- Cannot be a native speaker of Spanish
