About this opportunity
The NSW Ministry of Health Allied Health Scholarship is an undergraduate scholarship valued at $8,000 that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Established in 2025 from a donation by the NSW Ministry of Health, this scholarship aims to support first or second year students who are at risk of withdrawing from their university course due to financial barriers or personal circumstances.
The scholarship is available to students enrolled in allied health and pharmacy programs, including diagnostic radiography, exercise and sport science, exercise physiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, and pharmacy. The award is made on the basis of a personal statement demonstrating commitment to study and evidence of experiencing financial hardship, which may include low socio-economic status, carer responsibilities, long-term medical conditions, sole-parent responsibilities, or regional/remote disadvantage.
Preference is given to applicants from rural or regional locations in Australia. The scholarship provides a one-off payment of $8,000 to help students continue their studies and overcome financial barriers that might otherwise prevent them from completing their degree.
