About this opportunity
The O'Connor Scholarship is a postgraduate scholarship endowed by Mr. Dennis J. Doherty of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, to commemorate his wife Frances P. Doherty, his mother Catherine E. Doherty (née O'Connor) who came from Co. Kerry, and his sister Kathleen L. Doherty. The scholarship is valued at approximately €10,000 and is offered annually to suitably qualified graduates of University College Cork who were born in Ireland.
This scholarship is specifically confined to graduates with a parent whose surname on birth was O'Connor, making it a unique family heritage-based award. The scholarship is tenable at University College Cork for postgraduate study and may be renewed for at most one additional year, subject to satisfactory academic performance by the holder.
The scholarship is paid monthly via payroll over the academic session. If a scholarship is not awarded in any given year, an additional scholarship may be offered in the following year. Candidates must submit their application form along with their curriculum vitae and optional references by the designated deadline, typically in mid-September for the following academic year.
