About this opportunity

A research scholarship for PhD students within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney to undertake research in the field of microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology or cell biology, with a focus on research aimed at contributing to the advancement of human health. The scholarship is funded by the Firethorn Foundation in memory of the late Pamela Dorothy Nash, who graduated from the University of Sydney in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science focusing on microbiology and biochemistry. She had a distinguished career working in virology research with Professor Yvonne Cossard at the University of Sydney, on Ross River Fever research at the Australian National University, and with Professor Christopher Burrell at the University of Adelaide. Science domestic PhD students applying for the University of Sydney's RTP stipend scholarships will automatically be considered for this scholarship; a separate application is not required. The scholarship provides a supplementary stipend allowance for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance and maintaining enrollment in the PhD program.
