About This Opportunity

The Penelope Evans Scholarship in Music provides support to currently enrolled postgraduate students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music who are willing to travel as part of their studies. Established in 2025 from a bequest from Penelope Anne Evans, this scholarship supports both postgraduate coursework and research degree students. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit, a personal statement outlining travel budget and proposed study activity, and evidence of acceptance for a proposed international study activity. Preference is given to postgraduate students and music vocal students. For postgraduate research applicants, research achievements and research potential may be taken into consideration. The scholarship value and duration are determined by the Dean of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and stipulated in the scholarship offer letter to successful recipients. The award is paid as a one-off payment upon receipt of the Scholarship Acceptance Form. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance and remain enrolled full-time in their program. The scholarship aims to enable students to engage in travel-based study activities that enhance their musical education and research, providing opportunities for international study experiences that contribute to their academic and professional development in music.
