About This Opportunity
The Porthleven Prize is a two-part creative residency that encourages multidisciplinary collaboration, exploring ideas from various fields of enquiry and media. This immersive experience challenges perceptions of origins, landscape, and community, inspiring innovative and creative responses. The Prize, sponsored by The Trevor Osborne Charitable Trust, is now in its thirteenth year and provides enrolled students from Bath Spa University with the opportunity to engage across disciplines, expand their perspectives, and pursue ideas through collaboration. The residency consists of two parts: Part 1 involves 20 successful applicants participating in a three-day hands-on programme of activities in Bath, focused on discussions, collaborative research, guest presentations and workshops exploring site-specific and socially engaged practices. Part 2 selects eight students from Part 1 for a fully-funded 14-day residency in Porthleven, Cornwall, where they work in the Old Lifeboat Studio engaging with the local environment and community to produce collaborative or individual works demonstrating site-responsive practice. The Prize is integrated into the academic programme and can be accredited toward students' degrees.
