About this opportunity
The QEII Athol Patterson Bursary was established in 2009 from a bequest to the QEII National Trust from Dr Athol Patterson to support students at Massey University interested in sustainable farming practices. Dr Patterson was a doctor of tropical medicines who taught at various universities worldwide before retiring to Waverley where he operated two small dairy farms. This undergraduate bursary supports students enrolled in degrees with a focus on agriculture or environmental management who have completed their first year of study. The award provides $2,000 for one year to a student who demonstrates a strong interest in sustainable farming practices or sustainability issues in agriculture, shows familiarity with the work of the QEII National Trust, and can outline any connections they have had with land protected by this Trust.
