About this opportunity
The Ray Ethan Torrey Scholarship was established by Howard A. Turner '12 and his wife in memory of Dr. Torrey, who taught in the Department of Botany from 1919 to 1956. The scholarship is awarded to one or more undergraduate students who are studying botany. Applicants must be full-time, degree-seeking students at UMass Amherst who are involved in an ongoing research project in an aspect of plant biology and plan to continue their research participation full-time during the summer. The research project must be in the lab of a faculty member of the Plant Biology Graduate Program or of the Department of Biology. Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence. Recipients are required to give a presentation of their research, typically a poster presentation at the Plant Biology Symposium in October.
