About This Opportunity

Established in 1992, this scholarship is funded by a generous donation made by Ivan Colban Roberts in memory of the Reverend and Mrs F. W. A. Roberts. This scholarship supports students undertaking research in the field of English at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is available as either a primary scholarship providing $45,000 per annum or a supplementary scholarship providing $10,000 per annum for one year, subject to satisfactory academic performance. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in a Masters by Research or PhD in English and hold a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in English from the University of Sydney. The scholarship follows the Research Training Program (RTP) application process and can be extended beyond the initial year, with potential extensions up to 0.75 years for Masters by Research recipients or up to 2 years for PhD recipients.

Awarded by Academic Board on nomination of selection committee consisting of presiding member of Academic Board, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Head of English and Writing, Postgraduate Research Coordinator, and senior academic staff.
