The Riccarton Bursary

The Riccarton Bursary provides financial support for Civil Engineering students from Scotland. The bursary awards £5,000 per year to students from widening participation backgrounds as well as those from rural, isolated or remote parts of Scotland who are joining Heriot-Watt University in September 2026. The scholarship is specifically aimed at supporting students with their living costs and will be paid for each year of their undergraduate studies. Four bursaries are available annually for full-time undergraduate students studying Civil Engineering degrees (BEng or MEng) at the UK campus. Recipients must meet widening access criteria or be from designated rural, isolated, or remote areas of Scotland. The bursary provides sustained financial support throughout the duration of undergraduate studies, helping to ensure that students from underrepresented backgrounds can pursue their engineering education.
