About this opportunity
This scholarship provides support to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework student undertaking a degree in social work or social welfare. The scholarship is in memory of Romy Waterlow, who spent the last eight years of her life dedicated to working as a counsellor in the area of HIV/AIDS at Royal North Shore Hospital and within the North Shore community. The scholarship supports students specializing in HIV/AIDS, mental health, violence, disability, discrimination and marginalisation, poverty, and/or homelessness. Recipients must demonstrate financial hardship based on factors such as identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, low socio-economic status, carer responsibilities, long-term medical condition/disability, sole-parent responsibilities, regional or remote disadvantage, refugee status, LGBTIQ+ identity, and/or being first in family. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, evidence of financial hardship, and a personal statement detailing how the scholarship will support their studies.
