About This Opportunity
The Sandra Cadwallader Indigenous Economics Scholarships provide $50,000 per year to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students undertaking a Bachelor of Economics or Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Advanced Studies at the University of Sydney. Established in 2018 through a generous donation from Peter and Sandra Cadwallader, this scholarship aims to support Indigenous undergraduate students throughout the duration of their economics studies. The scholarship is valued at $50,000 annually and covers multiple cost categories: up to $10,000 per annum towards university course fees paid directly to the university, up to $25,000 per annum towards on-campus accommodation costs paid directly to the accommodation center, up to $10,000 per annum towards living expenses paid in two installments after census dates, and up to $5,000 per annum for flexible allocation among these categories. Recipients must be Australian citizens who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, have completed their NSW HSC or equivalent, and enroll full-time in one of the eligible economics degrees. The scholarship is tenable for the full duration of the recipient's course: 3 years for the Bachelor of Economics or 4 years for the Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Advanced Studies. Recipients of the Bachelor of Economics may extend the scholarship for an additional year if they elect to complete an Honours year. To maintain eligibility, recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark of 50 each semester. Selection is based on academic merit, a personal statement demonstrating commitment to studying economics, and a written recommendation letter from the applicant's school principal.
