The SIUE Commitment

The SIUE Commitment is a comprehensive financial aid program designed to make higher education accessible for qualifying Illinois students. For eligible students, SIUE will help close the gap in tuition, mandatory fees and course-specific fees after utilizing financial aid from all federal, state and institutional sources, including merit-based scholarships. This initiative aims to remove financial barriers for Illinois residents pursuing a bachelor's degree at SIUE. The program is specifically targeted at incoming dependent freshmen or transfer students from Illinois families with income less than $113,575 and assets less than $50,000, as verified through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Recipients must be Illinois residents who attended an Illinois high school, obtained a GED, or completed homeschooling within the state. The award covers tuition, mandatory fees, and course-specific fees for up to eight semesters, provided students maintain full-time enrollment in a bachelor's program. This commitment ensures that qualified Illinois students can pursue their undergraduate education at SIUE with reduced financial burden, making college more affordable and accessible to middle and lower-income families across Illinois.
