About This Opportunity

The Solwaybank Windfarm Community Benefit Fund provides financial support for projects and initiatives that support rural regeneration and sustainability of communities within the Solwaybank Windfarm area in Scotland. The fund receives an annual contribution of at least £60,000 (index-linked) from Solwaybank Energy Ltd, with a total expected funding of £1.5 million over the windfarm's lifetime. Applications are welcomed that enhance quality of life for local residents, contribute to vibrant and healthy communities, and promote community spirit. Priority is given to projects demonstrating local consultation, strategic long-term impacts, partnership working, local procurement, and environmental considerations. The fund supports constituted groups and not-for-profit organizations within specific communities including Langholm, Ewes and Westerkirk, Canonbie and District, Kirkpatrick Fleming and District, Kirtle and Eaglesfield, and Middlebie and Waterbeck. Match funding of at least 10% is normally required, though projects with higher match funding are preferred. The fund is currently closed due to being fully allocated but is expected to reopen in October 2026 with applications due by 31 January 2027.
