About This Opportunity

The Stanley Chisholm Ash Scholarship in Engineering provides $45,000 per annum to support domestic students from rural, regional or remote areas of Australia who are studying in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is tenable for the duration of the recipient's degree, up to 4 years. This scholarship was established in 2021 and donated by Ellen Ash in memory of her husband Stanley Chisholm Ash. Growing up near Forbes, NSW, Stanley knew first-hand the challenges faced by those from rural and regional Australia. When he came to Sydney to study Electrical Engineering, he was taking his first step toward an impressive career and a bright future. This scholarship is intended to support the next generation of students to develop the same love and passion for engineering and creativity that Stanley did. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, a personal statement demonstrating a passion for engineering, and primary residential address in a rural, regional or remote area of Australia, with preference for students from rural, regional or remote NSW. Preference is given to commencing undergraduate applicants, then to commencing postgraduate coursework applicants. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship. The annual value is paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.
