About this opportunity

The Sylvia Waddilove Foundation UK was established to continue the philanthropy of Sylvia Waddilove after her death in 2001. The Foundation provides grants to charities and some not-for-profit organisations in the United Kingdom. As a general rule, the Foundation provides grants to fund or part-fund the capital costs of a new project, with applications involving innovative projects being particularly welcome. The Foundation supports six main categories: promotion and education of organic farming and non-domestic animal husbandry and veterinary science; visual and performing arts (including visual arts projects, theatres, theatre productions, dance, ballet and opera); medical research (lab-based, non-statistical); relief of disability and severe illness; preservation of buildings of architectural or historical significance; and accommodation of those in need. Each category has specific criteria regarding eligible costs and organizational income thresholds. The Foundation typically awards grants ranging from £1,000 to £5,000. Trustees meet four times a year and aim to consider 30 applications at each meeting. Successful applicants must provide a written report 12 months after receiving the grant. The Foundation accepts applications only from registered charities, excepted/exempt/unregistered charities below registration threshold, community interest companies limited by guarantee, and registered societies that have been in existence for at least 2 years.
