About this opportunity
The T M Hsiao Scholarship supports students pursuing honours in Chinese studies at the University of Sydney. Established in 1992 from a donation by the family of the late Mr. Hsiao Tsung-mou, the former general manager of the World Book Company, Taiwan, this scholarship assists students to undertake advanced training at a Chinese University and/or collect research material in China or Taiwan for their honours thesis.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit in the third year in Chinese Studies. Preference is given to students who intend to undertake in-country training and/or collect research material in a Chinese-speaking country. Additional preference may be given to students who have not been awarded other awards or funding support for their travel to China.
Successful recipients who undertake relevant studies at a Chinese or Taiwanese University may apply for credit towards their University of Sydney degree. The scholarship is tenable for up to six months and is paid as a one-off payment after the relevant census date. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance to continue receiving the scholarship.
