The Thompson Excellence Scholarship

The Thompson Excellence Scholarship is offered to high achieving students commencing their first undergraduate degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast. This scholarship was first offered in 2015 and is funded through a $5 million gift from Mr and Mrs Thompson, generous donors to UniSC. The revenue generated from a multi-storey car park development funds both The Thompson Excellence Scholarship and The Thompson Study Support Scholarship. From 2025, new recipients receive installments of A$5,000 per study period for the normal duration of their program. The scholarship recognizes students with high academic achievement (minimum ATAR 89 or equivalent), demonstrated leadership skills through academic or extra-curricular/community activities, and financial need. Recipients must be commencing full-time in their first undergraduate program and be permanent residents of Australia, Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, or Permanent Australian Humanitarian Visa holders. Scholarship payments are made approximately three weeks after Census Date of the relevant study period, once enrollment has been confirmed.
