About This Opportunity

The UCC Pathology Undergraduate Medal is awarded annually to outstanding medical and dental students at University College Cork. Two medals are offered each year upon completion of the third year of study - one for medical students and one for dental students. For students in the Dental (non-EU Graduate Entry) programme, the medal is offered upon completion of the second year of study. The three highest scoring students in the combined results for Pathology examinations (first sitting of examinations in FM2004 and FM3005/PM3009) are invited to participate in an Oral Examination to determine the medal winner. This oral examination is conducted purely for the purpose of determining the winner and is not part of the standard medical or dental examination. A medal may not be awarded unless high merit has been shown. Eligible students must be registered third year medical and dental students who have successfully taken the examinations in each relevant module at first attempt. For students in the Dental (non-EU Graduate Entry) programme, eligibility applies to those registered in the second year of the programme. The award is funded by the Department of Pathology at UCC and recognizes exceptional achievement in pathology studies.
